Education: B.S. in electrical engineering, Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts. Tanya is currently working on a master’s degree at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in energy engineering, a fairly new engineering discipline. Her focus is on solar energy.
What’s important to her: “I believe strongly in aligning my personal goals with my job. My passions are the environment, clean energy, and my cultures. I love what I do, and I do work very hard. But I also believe strongly in balance. I’m very physically active and have a lot of friends and family.”
Creating her own company: Tanya has started her own energy consulting company called 7thgen Energy. The name comes from the Native American philosophy that every decision made today will have effects on the next seven generations.
Hobbies: “I like to dance and I like to stay in shape,” Tanya says. “Last year I started participating in fitness competitions. I’m training right now for a competition in Miami. It’s a lot of fun, and involves choreographing a two-minute dance, strength, and flexibility routine.”
Advice: “First find out what your passions are. Then try to figure out how you can use your technical skills to match them.”
