Get Involved

Break down stereotypes about engineering and encourage girls to consider it as a career option by using the Engineer Your Life messages and resources:

1. Use the EYL messages in your workshops, speaking engagements, and outreach efforts.

2. Spread the word.

Send girls the link to the Engineer Your Life Web site: www.engineeryourlife.org

Hand out posters, brochures, and postcards. Distribute the free Engineer Your Life brochures and posters to interested girls and educators. Obtain materials at Engineeringwomen@eweek.org.

Distribute other resources:

Take Engineering for a Test Drive pdf
Offers helpful suggestions for those kids who want to explore engineering in practical ways while they’re still in high school.

Recommended High School Coursework pdf
Lists the course preparation that most engineering programs require for admission.

Researching Engineering Schools pdf
Tips for researching different kinds of engineering schools.

Scholarships and Financial Aid pdf
Suggestions for how to research and obtain financial assistance.

Host an Engineer Your Life table at a college fair. The EYL table is an opportunity to provide prospective engineering students, their parents, and educators with information and give them a chance to ask questions in an informal setting.

Publish an article about your efforts to encourage women to consider engineering in your organization's print and electronic publications. Be sure to mention how you’ve used Engineer Your Life and its resources, and how girls responded. The article will bring recognition to your program and may inspire others to try an event or workshop.

3. Train others.
You can run an Engineer Your Life Training and teach other adults how to lead engineering activities with kids. This section contains a training slide show, talking points, printable handouts, a list of materials to collect, and preparation tips.
